What are the benefits of obtaining a Student Visa Subclass 500?
This visa allows you to stay in Australia and study for up to 5 years at a time. Studying in Australia will allow you to develop academic skills, build friendships and provide you with an opportunity to give back to the community.
It is strongly suggested that you obtain part time work of a maximum 40 hours per fortnight, engage in volunteer work and participate in a sport. Whilst these are not essential they are recommended if you wish to inquire about staying in Australia after the completion of your studies.
What are the requirements for a Student Visa Subclass 500?
You may be eligible for this visa if you:
- Have a confirmation of Enrollment (COE) from your institution of education;
- Have of income or finances showing that you can support yourself for a year and pay your fees (minimum $20,000, depending on course);
- If needed, proof that you will be staying with your sponsor during the duration of your course;
- Reasons for study gap, choice of education and why you have chosen to study at your particular institution;
- A statement of purpose detailing what you are planning to do to ensure that you finish your studies and what you will do to contribute to the community.

You will need to hold a satisfactory English score to be able to study in Australia. If you are not eligible to study your particular course you may be offered a bridging or gap course. Upon satisfactory completion you may be allowed entry into your course of your choosing.
